Architectural services in beautiful Bath and its Somerset surrounds
From our office in the beautiful city of Bath we enjoy a fabulous mix of rural and urban architecture. This is why the location suits us so well as it allows us to combine expertise gained from the work we do out in Monmouthshire and Gloucestershire with the urban architecture projects of our London office. What’s more, Bath is the base of our construction dispute resolution experts SmartArch.
Exploring Bath’s architecture
Bath is the only entire city in Britain to have achieved UNESCO World Heritage status, thanks in no small part to its architectural heritage. Spend an hour walking through the city streets and you’ll find stunning Palladian buildings – reminiscent of ancient Rome - sitting among rows of Georgian townhouses built from the stunning golden coloured Bath stone for which the city is famous.
Perhaps one of the reasons Bath remains such a beautiful city was the decision, unlike its near neighbour Bristol, to rebuild in keeping with original styles following World War II bombing raids. Even though it was severely damaged thanks to the Luftwaffe targeting sites of cultural significance during its Baedeker Raids, the city appears at least outwardly to be the grand Georgian city it once was.
Further afield in Somerset, roots tie much more closely into farming communities and quaint villages set among stunning scenery. And in fact, the West Country boasts the highest number of listed buildings of any region in the UK – another reason we’re so proud to be a small part of the architectural landscape in this area.
