Spa Road in Gloucester brought several challenges, largely due to the very small, tight site coupled with the restrictions of being in a conservation area. Surrounded by traditional buildings, the Council and Conservation Officer supported Apex in their plan to build a contemporary building which would aid the regeneration of the area.

 

Apex were delighted to be awarded a Civic Trust Award for this building.

The building itself utilises a timber frame construction, unusual on a building of this height. The curved roof, smoked glass and timber boarding gives the building its distinctive, contemporary feel.
